The Department of Buildings hit Macklowe Properties’ 432 Park Avenue with a stop work order after an eight-foot-long section of pipe fell from a hoist car on the 81st floor and crashed to the ground in front of an occupied building across the street.

No injuries from the incident have been reported, but all construction on the building, the tallest residential building in the Western Hemisphere, will be halted until the DOB deems the working conditions safe. A complaint about the incident was filed with the department yesterday, according to Curbed.

The penalty for violation is $5,000 for a first offense and $10,000 for subsequent incidents.
